Designing Tomorrow, Together.

My first UXIndia Conference was in 2019, the 15th year of UX in India. And since then, I see this as the Diwali or Thanksgiving version for UXers, where people from across the world come together (Avengers, Assemble!), talk over food, have fun activities, and catch-up on discussions.

Design for the future —
AI’s insights guide human touch,
see what they can create?

— a haiku by me.

Day 0

I arrived at the conference early, excited to soak up all the knowledge I could. The energy in the room was palpable, with attendees gathered to share their insights and experiences.

Day 1

  • Workshops: Interactive sessions through hands-on activities, real-world scenarios and studies, led by an expert in the field. They are a great way to learn new skills and gain practical experience.
  • Networking PODS: These casual networking sessions give attendees the opportunity to connect with other designers and leaders to share ideas and have meaningful discussions.

Day 2 and Day 3

  • Case studies: Presentations that focus on a specific project or case. It helps to learn from the experiences of others, and they can also be very inspiring.
  • Lightning and Ted-like Talks: These short talks feature designers who share their insights and experiences.
  • Design-led Startups: Showcasing start-up projects and panel discussion on the growth and vision of design driven future.
  • Keynotes: These feature thought leaders from across the globe, typically covering a broad topic, and they are intended to inspire and inform the audience.
  • Panel Discussions: Panel discussions are moderated discussions between a group of experts on a specific topic. A great way to learn about different perspectives on a topic; informative and insightful.

Insights

One of the key insights I gained from the conference is that AI is rapidly transforming the field of design. AI is already being used to improve the user experience in a variety of ways, and its potential to impact the field is enormous.

Another important insight is that designers have a responsibility to use their skills to solve real-world problems and make a positive impact on society. There are many opportunities for designers to use their skills to make a difference, and the conference provided a number of inspiring examples of how design is being used to make the world a better place.

Conferences are a great way to learn about the latest trends and technologies in the field of design. Speakers from all over the world share their insights and experiences, and I had the opportunity to ask questions and get advice from them. This is also a great opportunity to meet people from different companies and industries, and to learn about the work they’re doing. Hearing from other designers and learning about their work brings broader perspective on design process.

Takeaways

  • AI is rapidly transforming the field of design.
  • Designers have a responsibility to use their skills to solve real-world problems and make a positive impact on society.
  • Conferences are a great way to learn about the latest trends and technologies, network with other designers, and get inspired.

The UXIndia Conference also offers social events, such as networking dinners and pods. These events are a great way to meet other people in the field and to build relationships.

[P.S I do doodling, and when I capture notes in the form of doodling — they become sketch-notes. I have been doing that for a few years now, in events and conferences, online and in-person.]
